Wavely ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. It applies to the Wavely Android application and this website.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not display advertising. Wavely is a free product; the data we collect exists solely to operate and improve the service.
When you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name, and Google account identifier. We store this in Firebase to identify your account across sessions and devices. No password is stored by Wavely — authentication is handled entirely by Google. We also store your in-app activity — podcasts you have liked or saved, and creators or authors you follow — in Firebase Realtime Database, linked to your account, so your preferences persist across devices and sessions.
We do not collect payment information, location data, or contact lists.
When you download episodes or audiobooks for offline listening, those files are saved locally on your device in the app's private storage directory. Wavely does not upload your downloaded files to any server. If you uninstall the app or delete your account, these local files are removed.
We use the following Firebase services to understand how the app is used and to identify technical issues:
All Firebase services are operated by Google LLC. For more information, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Wavely fetches content from the following third-party services on your behalf. When you browse or play content, your device makes network requests to these services. Wavely does not share your account details with them.
Your account data (email, display name, Google identifier) and your in-app activity data (liked podcasts, followed creators and authors) are stored in Firebase for as long as your account exists. If you do not delete your account, your data is retained indefinitely so you can return to the app at any time.
Anonymised analytics and crash report data is retained by Google Firebase according to their standard retention policies.
You can delete your Wavely account at any time from within the app's settings. When you delete your account, all data stored by Wavely is permanently removed — this includes your profile information (email, display name, Google identifier), your in-app activity (liked podcasts, followed creators and authors), and any locally downloaded files on your device. Deletion is processed automatically on our servers using a Firebase extension; no residual account or preference data remains. This action is irreversible.
Anonymised analytics and crash data, which contains no personal identifiers, may be retained by Firebase according to their own policies after account deletion.
Wavely is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Wavely after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, please reach out via the contact page.
